What you'll do

Hire, coach, and develop engineers while fostering a high-ownership culture for direct reports.
Perform hands-on technical leadership including system design, code reviews, and troubleshooting production issues.
Own the architecture, engineering quality, and delivery predictability for a portfolio of financial solutions.
Lead the design and implementation of RESTful microservices using Python and Java.
Oversee full-stack development involving React, modern JavaScript practices, and secure API contracts.
Drive data modeling and performance optimization across Oracle, PostgreSQL, and DynamoDB databases.
Execute modernization initiatives including legacy automation, system upgrades, and cloud migrations.
Improve operational rigor through enhanced CI/CD pipelines, observability, and incident response readiness.

What we're looking for

Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience.
At least 2 years of experience leading technologists to manage and solve complex technical items within a domain of expertise.
Proven experience as a hands-on engineering leader with direct reports, combining people leadership with technical ownership.
Strong backend engineering experience with both Python and Java for building production-grade services.
Experience building RESTful APIs and applying microservices/distributed systems patterns like resiliency and idempotency.
Proficiency in web application development using HTML, JavaScript, and ReactJS (Angular/Node experience welcome).
Experience with Oracle or PostgreSQL for advanced SQL and performance tuning, and DynamoDB for scalable access patterns.
Experience leading AI-assisted development tools and understanding responsible AI use in engineering workflows.
AWS knowledge and certification (Solutions Architect, Developer, or DevOps) (preferred).
Hands-on experience with AWS compute platforms, data services, Infrastructure as Code, and cloud observability (preferred).
Experience leading modernization programs including legacy automation, on-prem upgrades, and cloud migrations (preferred).
Secure-by-design engineering practices including secrets management and vulnerability remediation (preferred).
