Senior Machine Learning Engineer, New Verticals Agentic Foundations

What you'll do

• Build and refine an eval harness-optimization loop to pinpoint failure modes in consumer agents.
• Iterate on prompts, tools, skills, and context to improve agent reliability and performance.
• Run experiments to balance quality, latency, and cost by fine-tuning open-weights models.
• Deploy small language models (SLMs) to replace or augment larger LLMs in production.
• Launch new agentic experiences for Merchants and Dashers from early exploration to production.
• Integrate agentic memory and product representations into production-ready generative recommendation systems.
• Partner with leadership to define an ML-driven strategy for the grocery and retail delivery business.

What we're looking for

• 3+ years of industry ML experience building and shipping LLM-based agents.
• Experience with post-training or fine-tuning open-weights models, including small language models.
• Proficiency in Python and frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Strong foundation in NLP and machine learning.
• M.S. or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Math, or another quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.
