As the Senior Global Sourcing Manager, Critical Minerals & Mining (Rare Earth Magnets), you will serve as the domain expert and single-threaded leader for a specific critical mineral, such as rare earth magnets or germanium. You will own the end-to-end global mandate, including market intelligence, tiered supply chain mapping, and supplier relationship management to mitigate geopolitical risks and volatile pricing. Your daily responsibilities involve leading RFI/RFQ/RFP processes, performing should-cost and TCO analysis, and negotiating complex agreements like offtakes or joint ventures. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams in engineering and finance to ensure supply continuity from new product introduction through mass production. The role requires expertise in critical mineral sourcing, multi-tier supply chain visibility tools, and navigating concentrated, geopolitically sensitive markets to secure raw materials for defense technology products while protecting bill of materials costs.

What you'll do

  • Develop and own the commodity strategy for assigned critical minerals focusing on supply chain resilience and geopolitical risk mitigation.
  • Map multi-tier supply chains from end products down to raw materials to quantify revenue exposure and BOM impact.
  • Provide weekly market intelligence updates regarding pricing, disruptions, and geopolitical signals to internal stakeholders.
  • Lead RFI/RFQ/RFP processes and negotiate complex agreements including offtakes, pricing, and capacity reservations with suppliers.
  • Perform should-cost and total cost of ownership (TCO) analyses to protect product costs in volatile markets.
  • Build and maintain relationships with miners, refiners, processors, and U.S. government agencies like the DoD and DLA.
  • Partner with Engineering to qualify alternative components and design out single points of failure in the supply chain.
  • Manage supplier performance regarding delivery, quality, and cost while serving as the primary escalation point for issues.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience in commodity management or strategic sourcing for critical minerals or their downstream products.
  • Demonstrated experience navigating concentrated and geopolitically sensitive supply chains.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time, including international travel to mines and refineries.
  • Ability to relocate to Costa Mesa, CA if not already local.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. TS clearance.
  • Preferred advanced degree in materials science, chemical sciences, or metallurgical/mining engineering.
  • Preferred experience with U.S. government programs supporting domestic critical mineral supply.
