As a Senior Fiber Technical Business Developer on the Global Fiber Team for Amazon Leo, you will drive the strategic acquisition of fiber for ground infrastructure sites. You are responsible for planning, designing, and procuring high-availability fiber networks to meet customer demand while ensuring cost and operational efficiency. Your daily work involves designing long-haul network routes, executing procurement contracts, and managing both internal resources and external contractors. To succeed, you must be a subject matter expert in telecommunications buy space, ISP carrier products, physical network infrastructure, optical technologies, network engineering, and provisioning. You will navigate the complexities of the telecommunications industry to build scalable networks for future growth. The role requires expertise in contract creation, sourcing new capacity, and managing vendor relationships to solve technical requirements while meeting specific business objectives within the satellite-based broadband connectivity domain.
Design long-haul network routes and plan fiber infrastructure to meet high-availability requirements.
Execute procurement contracts for fiber networks across multiple sites and countries.
Manage day-to-day operations of contractors and internal resources involved in buying and deploying fiber.
Negotiate commercial and technical deals with vendors that align engineering needs with business objectives.
Develop long-term strategic partnerships to support infrastructure growth in key regions.
Prepare and present transaction summaries, including financial approvals and cost-benefit analyses, to the leadership team.
Track telecommunications industry trends regarding vendor technologies, coverage, and deal structures.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree or above in engineering, management, technology, business administration, finance, economics, computer science, data science, or a related field.
3+ years of experience in infrastructure architecture, database architecture, and networking (preferred).
Subject matter expertise in telecommunications buy space, ISP carrier products, physical network infrastructure, optical technologies, network engineering, and provisioning.
Experience with network acquisitions and planning, managing vendor relationships, contract creation, and sourcing new capacity.
Ability to design long-haul network routes and execute procurement contracts for site infrastructure.
Ability to manage contractors and internal resources involved in buying and deploying fiber.
