Senior Data & Applied Scientist

What you'll do

• Translate ambiguous legal and regulatory problems into clear project plans, roadmaps, and measurable success criteria.
• Acquire and prepare structured and unstructured data while identifying risks related to privacy, security, and bias.
• Develop machine learning and generative AI models for classification, retrieval, summarization, and metadata extraction.
• Build automated systems for monitoring regulatory changes and producing traceable impact assessments.
• Write production-quality code to prototype and operationalize scalable solutions in partnership with engineering teams.
• Define evaluation metrics and human-in-the-loop workflows to ensure accuracy and consistency in AI outputs.
• Establish responsible AI practices and best practices for data and engineering across the organization.

What we're looking for

• A Doctorate, Master's, or Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field combined with 1, 3, or 5 years of data science experience respectively.
• Advanced knowledge of statistical analysis, experimentation, algorithms, machine learning, and AI (preferred).
• Experience managing, transforming, and analyzing structured and unstructured data using SQL and Python or R (preferred).
• Experience developing, evaluating, or operationalizing scalable ML/AI systems including NLP, LLMs, and agentic workflows (preferred).
• Demonstrated ability to own complex projects and make sound decisions amid ambiguity while collaborating across diverse disciplines (preferred).
• Ability to translate ambiguous legal and regulatory problems into clear objectives, project plans, and measurable success criteria.
• Ability to write production-quality code and partner with engineering teams for deployment and maintenance.
• Ability to build partnerships with legal professionals and influence decisions through clear narratives and visualizations.
