Senior Backend Systems Engineer, Sensing & Connectivity

What you'll do

• Design, build, and maintain high-quality, production-grade backend software systems.
• Develop signal processing pipelines and data infrastructure to ingest crowdsourced sensor data.
• Apply machine learning to extract intelligence from massive streams of device telemetry.
• Own the full ML lifecycle from problem formulation and feature engineering to production deployment.
• Architect systems that process data from hundreds of millions of devices at global scale.
• Ship systems that meet demanding real-world efficiency requirements for navigation and emergency services.
• Propose bold technical ideas and perform data analysis to solve complex sensor data problems.

What we're looking for

• Proficient in Java or equivalent backend languages such as Scala.
• Strong foundation in object-oriented design, distributed systems, and real-time software architecture.
• Master's or PhD in Computer Science or related field, or a Bachelor's degree with proven experience architecting real production systems at scale.
• Demonstrated experience architecting and operating high-scale production backend systems (preferred).
• Experience with crowdsourced, sensor, or telemetry data systems (preferred).
• Comfortable implementing complex mathematical or statistical algorithms (preferred).
• Familiarity with AI/ML tools applied to accelerate development and analysis (preferred).
• Familiar with Linux-based development environments (preferred).
