Senior Backend Systems Engineer, Sensing & Connectivity

What you'll do

• Architect and build backend systems that process crowdsourced sensor data from millions of devices.
• Design and maintain high-quality, production-grade software systems using Java or Scala.
• Build signal processing pipelines and data infrastructure to ingest and interpret large-scale sensor streams.
• Apply machine learning techniques to extract intelligence from raw sensor data at scale.
• Manage the full ML lifecycle including problem formulation, feature engineering, and model development.
• Develop infrastructure to deploy machine learning models reliably into production environments.
• Implement complex mathematical or statistical algorithms to solve navigation and emergency response problems.
• Deliver high-performance systems that meet demanding real-world efficiency requirements at a global scale.

What we're looking for

• Proficiency in Java or equivalent backend languages such as Scala.
• Strong foundation in object-oriented design, distributed systems, and real-time software architecture.
• Master's or PhD in Computer Science or a Bachelor's degree with proven experience architecting production systems at scale.
• Experience architecting and operating high-scale production backend systems.
• Experience with crowdsourced, sensor, or telemetry data systems.
• Ability to implement complex mathematical or statistical algorithms.
• Familiarity with AI/ML tools for development and analysis.
• Proficiency in Linux-based development environments.
