Senior Backend Software Engineer

What you'll do

• Design, develop, and maintain highly available, real-time data services for sports data.
• Build and optimize high-throughput, low-latency distributed systems for massive scale.
• Ingest, process, and distribute sports data across Apple Sports and Apple TV platforms.
• Implement systems with a focus on scalability, fault tolerance, and high availability.
• Leverage Kafka, Cassandra, and Redis to manage real-time data pipelines.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
• Execute on the technical roadmap to deliver impactful features for millions of users.

What we're looking for

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience building and deploying scalable, distributed systems in a production environment.
• Strong proficiency in Java with experience in both Object-Oriented and Functional programming principles.
• Solid understanding of concurrency control mechanisms, fundamental data structures, and efficient algorithm design.
• Hands-on experience with databases such as Cassandra and Redis, and stream processing platforms like Kafka.
• Proven ability to design and implement systems with a focus on scalability, fault tolerance, and high availability.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience building and optimizing real-time data pipelines, including data ingestion, transformation, and delivery (preferred).
• Practical experience with Kubernetes container orchestration and building/maintaining CI/CD pipelines (preferred).
