What you'll do

  • Build machine learning models through all phases of development including design, training, evaluation, and validation.
  • Leverage a broad technology stack including Python, AWS, H2O, and Spark to analyze large datasets.
  • Extract insights from huge volumes of numeric and textual data to drive data-driven decisions.
  • Retrieve and combine data from a variety of sources and structures to support analysis.
  • Translate complex technical findings into understandable information for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ensure all models used to underwrite the Discover Card portfolio are well-managed.
  • Develop and implement production-ready machine learning solutions for customer-facing products.

What we're looking for

  • Must have a Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field plus 2 years of data analytics experience.
  • Must have a Master's degree in a quantitative field or an MBA with a quantitative concentration.
  • Must have experience building, validating, and backtesting machine learning models.
  • Must have experience with clustering, classification, sentiment analysis, time series, and deep learning.
  • Must have the skills to retrieve, combine, and analyze data from a variety of sources and structures.
  • Master’s degree in a STEM field or a PhD in a STEM field (preferred).
  • At least 2 years of experience in Python, Scala, or R (preferred).
  • At least 2 years of experience with machine learning (preferred).
  • At least 2 years of experience with SQL (preferred).
  • Experience working with AWS (preferred).
