As a Senior Architecture Energy Modeling Engineer on the Power Modeling, Methodology and Analysis Team, you will develop energy-efficient GPUs, CPUs, and Tegra SOCs by building machine learning based power models to analyze and reduce consumption. You will collaborate with architects, ASIC design engineers, and performance engineers to create methodologies for training models using machine learning or statistical techniques while improving accuracy through various algorithms. Your daily work involves estimating data movement power, correlating predictions across the design cycle, and integrating models into architectural simulators, RTL simulation, and silicon platforms. To succeed, you must possess strong coding skills in Python and C++, a background in machine learning, AI, and computer architecture, and an understanding of Verilog and ASIC design principles. You will ultimately identify energy inefficiencies and prototype new features to improve performance per watt for graphics and artificial intelligence workloads.

What you'll do

  • Develop Machine Learning based power models to analyze and reduce GPU power consumption.
  • Create methodologies and workflows to train energy models using ML and statistical techniques.
  • Improve model accuracy by experimenting with different representations, objective functions, and learning algorithms.
  • Develop methodologies to accurately estimate the power and energy costs of data movement.
  • Correlate predicted energy from early design stages with actual silicon measurements.
  • Integrate power and energy models into performance infrastructure for combined reporting across various workloads.
  • Build tools to debug and resolve energy inefficiencies observed in silicon, RTL, and architectural simulators.
  • Prototype new architectural features and analyze their impact on system energy efficiency.

What we're looking for

  • MS degree (or equivalent experience) or a PhD in related fields.
  • 6+ years of professional experience.
  • Strong coding skills, preferably in Python and C++.
  • Background in machine learning, AI, and/or statistical modeling.
  • Background in computer architecture and interest in energy-efficient GPU designs.
  • Ability to formulate and analyze algorithms while considering runtime and memory complexities.
  • Basic understanding of energy consumption concepts, estimation, and low power design.
  • Familiarity with Verilog and ASIC design principles is a plus.
