Senior Android Engineer, Design System

What you'll do

• Develop higher-level reusable components to accelerate product development while maintaining consistency across platforms.
• Evolve Reddit’s cross-platform design system and UI architecture.
• Optimize Android architecture, rendering patterns, and performance-focused development practices at scale.
• Build accessible components, tools, and documentation to ensure accessibility best practices are adopted by default.
• Improve developer experience through shared tooling, documentation, and platform improvements.
• Establish frontend patterns that enable product teams to ship high-quality experiences efficiently.

What we're looking for

• You must have at least 6 years of software engineering experience.
• You should have a track record of leading cross-functional projects and delivering solutions with broad product impact.
• Experience is required in building and maintaining shared UI infrastructure, such as design systems or component libraries.
• You must have strong experience with modern Android development using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.
• Expertise is required in UI architecture, scalable component design, and performance optimization using tools like Instruments.
• You should be familiar with accessibility best practices for building components and documentation.
