Security Domain Expert, Perimeter and Network Security, Enterprise Technology Services joins the Emerging Technologies team as a technical authority for the perimeter and network security platform. This role serves as the primary bridge between engineering teams and the broader organization, translating complex security concepts into narratives for leadership while advising application teams on traffic patterns and requirements. The expert will manage defense-in-depth strategies across on-premises and cloud environments like GCP and AWS. Key responsibilities include overseeing WAF, DDoS mitigation, bot prevention, TLS management, and policy enforcement across proxy tiers. Candidates must possess deep expertise in NGINX, Envoy, HAProxy, service mesh architectures, and API security gateways. The role requires mastery of TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, and DNS security to address critical infrastructure challenges while influencing cross-organizational strategy and roadmap development through technical leadership and expert consultation.
Serve as the technical authority and primary spokesperson for perimeter and network security across the organization.
Provide expert guidance on WAF, DDoS mitigation, bot prevention, TLS management, and security policy enforcement.
Advise application teams on how platform capabilities address their specific traffic patterns and security requirements.
Evaluate emerging threats and attack vectors to shape the team's long-term security strategy.
Drive alignment and consensus on cross-organizational security initiatives across infrastructure, SRE, and cloud teams.
Translate complex technical security concepts into clear narratives for both engineering teams and senior leadership.
Synthesize feedback from partner engagements to inform and influence the platform’s product roadmap.
Identify gaps in organizational security coverage and drive remediation efforts with the engineering team.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related technical field.
12+ years of experience in security engineering or security architecture with a strong hands-on technical foundation.
Deep expertise in perimeter and network security including WAF, DDoS mitigation, bot detection, TLS/mTLS, and DNS security.
Strong knowledge of proxy technologies such as NGINX, Envoy, and HAProxy across edge, origin, service mesh, and API gateway tiers.
Experience with security policy enforcement and configuration management for distributed infrastructure in on-premises and public cloud environments (GCP, AWS).
Proven experience acting as a domain authority in architecture reviews, security forums, and executive briefings.
Ability to communicate complex technical security concepts clearly to both engineering teams and senior leadership.
Experience collaborating with application and infrastructure teams to design integrated solutions based on their specific traffic requirements.
