Scientist, Chief Engineer - GPS/APNT serves as the primary technical authority for key programs within the Navigation Solutions business. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, this role provides deep technical expertise across all engineering disciplines for GPS User Equipment. The individual will drive technical, strategic, and tactical direction, lead failure investigations, and resolve complex technical challenges for military embedded real-time systems. Key responsibilities include collaborating with engineers, program management, and customers to execute operational plans and develop new business opportunities. Required competencies include extensive experience in GPS, APNT, RF, Signal Processing, and GNC. The role specifically addresses the development of advanced military GPS, Anti-Jam systems, and Assured Position, Navigation, and Timing capabilities for use in weapons, ground, airborne, maritime, and space environments.
Serve as the primary technical authority and interface for programs within the Navigation Solutions business.
Provide technical direction, guidance, and expert review for engineering personnel to meet operational plans.
Execute the technical vision and tactical execution of programs to ensure mission success.
Resolve complex technical issues and lead failure investigations for development and production programs.
Develop and support new business opportunities while driving technical excellence.
Make substantial improvements to processes, systems, and technical solutions.
Manage large, complex project initiatives of strategic importance to the organization.
Collaborate with customers, suppliers, and internal business areas to execute programs.
What we're looking for
Must have an active DoD SECRET clearance or higher.
Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field with 12 years of related experience, a Graduate degree with 10 years of experience, or 16 years of experience without a degree.
7+ years of experience as a Chief Engineer or Technical Lead of major programs with deep capabilities in GPS, APNT, RF, Signal Processing, and/or GNC.
7+ years of engineering technical, functional, and leadership experience within stringent technical, schedule, and budget requirements.
7+ years of experience leading and tracking projects, risk/opportunities, proposals, processes, and employees.
7+ years of experience demonstrating outstanding verbal and written skills for internal teams, business, customers, and program stakeholders.
7+ years of experience working with DoD customers.
