Scala Backend Developer

What you'll do

• Design, develop, and maintain sophisticated server-side applications using Scala and Java.
• Create robust and scalable RESTful APIs to handle complex business logic and data processing.
• Support distributed systems using Git for version control and Maven for build tools.
• Write comprehensive unit tests to ensure the reliability and scalability of software architecture.
• Perform requirements analysis, system architecture design, and performance optimization of backend services.
• Define technical specifications to ensure data integrity, security, and proactive resolution of design weaknesses.
• Independently analyze and resolve complex technical problems as an individual contributor.
• Provide mentorship and leadership to junior team members.

What we're looking for

• Must have a technical degree, certification, or training with 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Must have 10+ years of hands-on Java software development experience.
• Must have 5+ years of hands-on Scala programming development expertise.
• Must have experience designing and developing RESTful APIs.
• Must demonstrate skills with functional programming, distributed systems, Git, Maven, and SQL databases.
• Must have knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerization technologies like OpenShift.
• Must be able to obtain T4 Public Trust clearance.
• Must have lived in the United States at least three out of the last five years.
• Experience working with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) (preferred).
• Familiarity with front-end technologies like Angular and/or React (preferred).
