Satellite Systems Software Engineer

What you'll do

• Develop highly reliable software systems to manage thousands of satellites in low-earth orbit.
• Design software for vehicles flying in space and the ground systems that support them.
• Manage the complete lifecycle of code from initial inception and development to testing and rollout.
• Ensure safe interaction with other operators and maintain command and control capabilities of satellites.
• Monitor and manage the global satellite fleet.
• Take full accountability for software interactions with hardware and surrounding environments.
• Participate in architecture, design, and code reviews.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, math, or science and 1+ years of professional software development experience.
• 3+ years of professional software development experience in lieu of a degree.
• Experience with Python or C++, and Linux programming (preferred).
• Experience with distributed systems or large-scale consumer internet systems (preferred).
• Production experience with containerization technologies like Docker or Kubernetes (preferred).
• Understanding of version control, testing, continuous integration, build, deployment, and monitoring (preferred).
• Experience with relational databases like PostgreSQL or CockroachDB (preferred).
• Previous experience with satellites or spacecraft systems (preferred).
• Must be a U.S. citizen, national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee, or eligible for Department of State authorization.
