Research Scientist

What you'll do

• Develop novel quantum algorithms that combine quantum and classical resources to simulate physical systems like ground states and thermal states.
• Demonstrate quantum algorithms on real-world applications in physics, chemistry, and materials science.
• Create new quantum machine learning methods for tasks involving both classical and quantum data.
• Build hybrid workflows that integrate measurement data from quantum experiments with classical machine learning to predict system properties.
• Establish learning theory results for QML, including generalization bounds and complexity analysis.
• Identify specific settings where quantum approaches show a clear advantage over classical models.
• Expand the quantum ecosystem by engaging with ML and quantum communities through working groups and collaborations.

What we're looking for

• Experience in an academic graduate program related to quantum computing, machine learning, computer science, statistics, or information theory.
• Experience developing and analyzing quantum algorithms for simulation of physical systems.
• Experience with quantum machine learning and hybrid quantum-classical learning workflows.
• Experience implementing research code, ML frameworks, and Qiskit.
• Experience running demonstrations on quantum processors.
• Strong publication record in high-impact journals or top conference proceedings (preferred).
• Programming experience in Python, NumPy, SciPy, Matplotlib, and Qiskit (preferred).
• Doctorate Degree.
