TL;DR · Research Intern - AI Frameworks (Network Systems and Tools)

Join our cutting-edge research team as a PhD candidate specializing in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field to investigate and evaluate emerging disaggregated key-value (KV) cache architectures. You will implement hierarchical storage systems with multiple tiers and develop a Peer-to-Peer (P2P) service KV cache sharing architecture that enables direct high-performance cache transfer between multiple large language model (LLM) serving instances without centralized servers. Your daily tasks include researching, prototyping, and simulating advanced distributed system designs while collaborating across disciplines to solve complex AI inference bottlenecks. Proficiency in Python, C/C++, and familiarity with PyTorch, CUDA, Triton, and performance-simulation tools are essential, along with a strong background in large-scale system design and hardware-software co-design principles.

What you'll do

  • Investigate and evaluate emerging disaggregated KV cache architectures for efficiency.
  • Implement a hierarchical storage architecture with multiple tiers for optimal performance.
  • Build P2P service KV cache sharing to enable direct high-performance cache transfer.
  • Conduct original research in AI systems or architecture, defining new directions.
  • Analyze large-scale system design and model cost/performance tradeoffs effectively.
  • Design innovative solutions for system and architectural challenges creatively.
  • Utilize programming skills in Python, C/C++ to build prototypes and simulators.

What we're looking for

  • PhD candidate in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • Research experience in computer architecture, AI/ML systems, performance modeling, distributed systems.
  • Programming skills in Python and C/C++ for building prototypes and simulators.
  • Familiarity with modern AI workloads and deep learning frameworks like PyTorch.
  • Ability to define and pursue original research directions in AI systems or architecture.
  • Proficient communication and presentation skills for complex technical insights.
