Applied Researcher II (AI Foundations)

What you'll do

• Develop AI foundation models through all phases of development including design, training, evaluation, validation, and implementation.
• Conduct high-impact applied research to integrate state-of-the-art AI developments into next-generation customer experiences.
• Utilize a broad technology stack including PyTorch, Hugging Face, and VectorDBs to extract insights from large volumes of data.
• Build scalable deep learning models for language, images, events, or graphs using open-source tools and cloud platforms.
• Translate complex technical research into tangible business goals and outcomes for stakeholders.
• Identify and solve large, undefined problems by researching and evaluating emerging technologies and methodologies.
• Own and pursue a research agenda by selecting impactful problems and executing long-running projects autonomously.

What we're looking for

• Must have a PhD in a relevant field with 2 years of experience or an MS degree with 4 years of experience in Applied Research.
• Experience building large deep learning models for language, images, events, or graphs is required.
• Expertise in at least one of the following: training optimization, self-supervised learning, robustness, explainability, or RLHF.
• Proven track record of delivering models at scale regarding both training data and inference volumes.
• Experience delivering libraries, platform-level code, or solution-level code to existing products.
• Demonstrated ability to own a research agenda and independently carry out long-running projects.
• A track record of innovation in machine learning, such as first-author publications or significant project contributions.
• Preferred: Multiple publications at top-tier venues like NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, ACL, NAACL, or EMNLP.
