JOB TITLE: Quantum Device Redearch Scientist
As a Staff Research Scientist in Quantum Device Technology, you will join the IBM Research team to perform research across a broad array of quantum computing topics. You will guide functional objectives, contribute to global research strategies, and develop IBM products and services. Your daily work involves developing deep expertise in quantum device technology, mentoring colleagues, and participating in functional program planning. You will utilize skills in gates, coherence, design, simulation, test, tuning, photonics/interconversion, Josephson electronics, and device theory. The role focuses on solving technical challenges in quantum computing by advancing device theory and innovative research methodologies. You will collaborate across business units to influence stakeholders and ensure that research priorities align with strategic business needs and the development of practical quantum computing technologies.
Perform research on quantum device technology including gates, coherence, design, simulation, and Josephson electronics.
Guide functional objectives and technologies to align with the division's mission and IBM's product strategy.
Develop and maintain deep technical expertise in quantum computing to drive innovation.
Negotiate with and influence stakeholders across different business units and boundaries.
Mentor colleagues by sharing technical knowledge and expertise to promote team growth.
Participate in functional program planning to ensure strategic objectives and business priorities are met.
What we're looking for
You must hold a Doctorate Degree.
You must have deep expertise in quantum device technology, including gates, coherence, design, simulation, test, tuning, photonics, and Josephson electronics.
You must have experience guiding functional objectives or technologies in alignment with a division's mission and vision.
You must have experience developing relationships across business units and influencing stakeholders.
You must have experience mentoring colleagues in a technical capacity.
You must have experience participating in overall functional program planning to meet strategic objectives.
You should have experience with novel research techniques and methodologies in quantum computing (preferred).
You should have experience driving technical advancements and aligning research objectives with business needs (preferred).
