The Quantum Developer Relations Lead joins IBM Research to drive global adoption of quantum technologies. You will own the strategy for developer onboarding, building scalable education programs, and creating reusable technical assets like tutorials, documentation, and sample applications. Day-to-day, you will represent the developer voice during product development, identify usability friction points, and influence the product roadmap. You will cultivate strategic partnerships with academic institutions and research organizations while growing the open-source Qiskit ecosystem. The role requires expertise in quantum software development using Qiskit or comparable frameworks, along with experience in technical community management and public speaking. You will solve the challenge of making complex quantum computing accessible by improving SDK usability, APIs, and developer workflows within a hybrid quantum-classical computing context.
Own the strategy for growing adoption of IBM Quantum technologies across the global developer ecosystem.
Design scalable education programs and technical assets like tutorials, documentation, and sample applications.
Represent IBM Quantum at technical talks, workshops, hackathons, conferences, and community events.
Collect and synthesize developer feedback to influence product roadmap decisions and improve SDK usability.
Develop strategic partnerships with academic institutions, research organizations, and industry leaders.
Build and manage programs for educators, ambassadors, and technical champions to expand quantum computing access.
Support the Qiskit open-source community by encouraging external contributions and providing technical guidance.
Align developer initiatives with business priorities by partnering with Engineering, Product Management, and Marketing teams.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Physics, Engineering, Quantum Information Science, or a related technical discipline.
Master's Degree or PhD in Quantum Information Science, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline (preferred).
5+ years of experience in Developer Relations, Developer Advocacy, Technical Education, Technical Community Management, or similar technical leadership roles.
Strong understanding of quantum computing and quantum software development using Qiskit or comparable frameworks.
Experience building software, developer tools, technical demonstrations, or production applications.
Demonstrated experience building and growing technical communities and creating technical content like tutorials, documentation, and workshops.
Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences and influence stakeholders without direct authority.
Hands-on experience with quantum algorithms, open-source projects, or experience working with universities and national laboratories (preferred).
