Product Software Engineer II

What you'll do

• Build client app experiences for Roku streaming devices and smart TVs using BrightScript and the Roku SceneGraph SDK.
• Develop new application features including onboarding flows, browse UI/UX, analytics, and video playback interfaces.
• Create and extend templated controls and write custom controls for the user interface.
• Develop web tools and services using JavaScript, React, Node.js, and AWS configurations.
• Vet new hardware, firmware, and certification requirements with Roku from a client application perspective.
• Implement pixel-perfect designs and animations to create performant, data-driven user experiences.
• Optimize application performance and implement feature degradation techniques for devices with varying capabilities.
• Write unit tests and manage build scripts using tools like Gulp and Jenkins.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor’s degree or better in Computer Science or a related technical field or equivalent job experience.
• 3+ years of development experience with a client-side development stack.
• Experience with BrightScript is ideal.
• Experience with MVVM (Model-View-ViewModel) architecture.
• Experience creating beautiful, rich, performant user interfaces, including pixel-perfect designs and animations (preferred).
• Experience working on user interface-level code and knowledge of common patterns to present a data-driven UX (preferred).
• Familiarity with development and troubleshooting on set-top boxes or Smart TVs (preferred).
• Experience with JavaScript client- and server-side development, DevOps, gulp scripts, Jenkins, and AWS (preferred).
