TL;DR · Product Development Engineer, Product Operations

Product Development Engineer, Product Operations joins the Datacenter Platform Engineering Group to drive the development and manufacturing launch of datacenter hardware, specifically server and rack systems. This role involves coordinating complex technical projects from design through production by collaborating with cross-functional teams in engineering design, materials, and program management. Key responsibilities include conducting Design for Manufacturability (DFM) reviews, managing Engineering Change Order (ECO) processes, overseeing first article builds, and validating assembly instructions to ensure high-quality manufacturing. The candidate will manage project schedules, lead technical review meetings, and oversee New Product Introduction (NPI) processes. Required skills include experience with physical design methodologies, server architectures, printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) processes, and interpreting engineering drawings and schematics. This role solves the challenge of transitioning complex datacenter hardware from initial concept to high-volume production environments.

What you'll do

  • Lead Design for Manufacturability (DFM) reviews to ensure products are optimized for high-quality production.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules and implementation readiness timelines for new product introductions.
  • Facilitate cross-functional problem-solving meetings to identify and resolve design or production issues during launch.
  • Oversee first article builds and First Article Inspections (FAI) to validate product design and manufacturing readiness.
  • Manage Engineering Change Order (ECO) processes to incorporate design updates while minimizing impact on production schedules.
  • Validate and approve production assembly instructions, including labeling and work instructions for manufacturing teams.
  • Ensure final products meet all customer specifications and quality standards before high-volume production ramp-up.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field is required.
  • A Master's degree in a relevant engineering field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in product development engineering or a related hardware engineering role.
  • Experience guiding products from concept through development and production for complex hardware like datacenter systems.
  • Knowledge of physical design methodologies, server architectures, and printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to conduct Design for Manufacturability (DFM) reviews and manage Engineering Change Order (ECO) processes.
  • Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications while maintaining Bill of Materials (BOM).
  • Strong communication skills to lead cross-functional meetings and coordinate projects across multiple teams.
