As a Principal Software Engineer-VPC within the VPC Network organization, you will join an agile team to design and implement JPMC-VPC, a next-generation software-defined networking platform intended to replace legacy infrastructure. You will be responsible for architecting core components including control planes, distribution planes, data planes using OVS/DPU, software gateways, load balancers, and IPAM systems. Your daily work involves developing high-quality production code, creating scalable software frameworks, and governing AI-enabled engineering workflows. You will utilize Go, Python, Rust, or C/C++ to build large-scale networking infrastructure while leveraging CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and observability platforms. What we're looking for
12+ years of experience designing and building large-scale networking platforms, distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, or software-defined networking solutions.
Expertise in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline.
Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and advanced applied experience.
Expert proficiency in one or more programming languages, specifically Go, Python, Rust, or C/C++.
Hands-on experience with software-defined networking technologies such as OVN, OVS, or equivalent platforms.
Experience with modern software engineering practices including CI/CD, infrastructure as code, observability, and cloud-native development.
Demonstrated experience designing and leading adoption of AI-enabled engineering practices using enterprise-authorized tools.
Experience with DPU/SmartNIC technologies, high-performance networking frameworks (eBPF, XDP, DPDK), or Kubernetes networking (preferred).
