Principal Software Engineer

What you'll do

• Define technical direction and strategy for content metadata across Disney+ platforms.
• Lead architectural reviews and oversee descriptive metadata, rights, and availabilities.
• Design well-architected solutions using agile best practices for iterative development.
• Develop data-driven software systems aligned with business needs and metrics analysis.
• Advocate for engineering excellence, ensuring robust testing and code quality standards.
• Collaborate on innovative solutions by challenging existing architectural choices.

What we're looking for

• Minimum 10 years of software development experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Proficiency in Java and/or Python, implementing improvements on production systems while adding new features.
• Expertise in metadata enrichment techniques using ML/AI models for media embeddings extraction.
• Extensive knowledge of core Computer Science principles including data structures and algorithms.
• Experience with both relational (SQL-based) and non-relational databases, as well as messaging technologies like Kinesis, Kafka, SQS, SNS.
• Proven ability to model and streamline complex data from multiple sources into a normalized format for enhanced user experiences.
• Demonstrated experience in high-performance service or stream computing at large scale.
