Principal Software Engineer, Core Infrastructure

What you'll do

• Lead architecture for the Prism Mapping platform's foundational software, including runtime, IPC, and device communication.
• Define multi-release technical roadmaps to ensure the platform scales with new hardware and clinical requirements.
• Establish engineering standards for infrastructure code regarding reliability, observability, performance, and safety in a medical environment.
• Lead the design and delivery of major subsystems and complex cross-cutting architectural initiatives.
• Provide technical leadership through mentoring senior engineers and conducting high-level design reviews.
• Drive technical alignment across software, systems, quality, and product teams to resolve complex problems.
• Communicate technical tradeoffs, risks, and recommendations to stakeholders across various functional departments.
• Identify and implement improvements in architecture, development processes, and overall system design.

What we're looking for

• A Bachelor's degree with at least 7 years of relevant experience, a Master's with 5 years, or a PhD with 3 years is required.
• Deep expertise in Python and C++ for complex, multi-component systems is preferred.
• Expertise in Linux systems programming, real-time architecture, and device-connected systems is preferred.
• Experience architecting platform-level software that other teams build on is preferred.
• Proven experience delivering complex, real-time, device-integrated, or networked systems is preferred.
• Experience leading large, cross-functional technical initiatives is preferred.
• Experience defining architecture, standards, or technical direction across multiple components or teams is preferred.
• Work authorization at the time of hire and for the duration of employment.
