The Principal Engineer, Xfinity Mobile Systems & Software Architecture provides technical leadership for Xfinity Mobile systems, multi-MNO integrations, and software platforms. This role serves as a technical bridge between MVNO engineering and software development teams, translating network capabilities and partner interfaces into end-to-end technical solutions and software requirements. Key responsibilities include leading solution architecture for international roaming, developing architecture diagrams, defining requirements for highly available applications, and providing mentorship across engineering teams. The position requires expertise in mobile core networks, wireless systems, and distributed system design using REST APIs, event-driven architectures, and Kafka. The work involves solving complex problems across MNO capabilities, partner platforms, and supporting infrastructure to ensure scalable, resilient, and operationally supportable mobile services within a multi-MNO environment.
Lead end-to-end solution architecture for Xfinity Mobile capabilities across multiple MNOs and partner integrations.
Translate network capabilities and product needs into clear, testable software requirements and system architectures.
Serve as a technical bridge between network engineering and software development teams to build scalable solutions.
Develop architecture diagrams, end-to-end call flows, interface specifications, and API designs.
Provide technical leadership for international roaming service assurance, including monitoring and troubleshooting.
Define requirements for highly available applications focusing on scalability, security, and failure handling.
Analyze complex issues across MNO platforms and Xfinity applications to drive cross-functional technical resolutions.
Lead architecture reviews and provide technical mentorship across various engineering teams.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's Degree (preferred).
10+ years of relevant work experience.
Extensive experience in telecommunications, wireless systems, software architecture, systems engineering, or related engineering disciplines (preferred).
Strong understanding of mobile network and MVNO architectures (preferred).
Experience designing solutions in multi-MNO, MVNO, or carrier-integrated environments (preferred).
Experience designing complex distributed systems using REST APIs, event-driven architectures, and asynchronous messaging (preferred).
Experience with production observability, service assurance, monitoring, logging, metrics, and alerting (preferred).
Software development experience sufficient to collaborate effectively with application development teams (preferred).
