Principal Designer, Cisco Cloud Control

What you'll do

• Lead the evolution of Cloud Control’s Human Interface Guidelines into an adopted, continuously improving capability.
• Define and govern information architecture, taxonomy, naming, and experience rules to facilitate faster product decisions.
• Establish and run a cross-functional HIG X-Team or guild to drive contribution pathways and decision-making.
• Partner with design systems and engineering teams to convert approved guidance into machine-readable rules and evaluation criteria.
• Use AI tools and automation to accelerate research synthesis, change management, and validation workflows.
• Create shared decisions and working practices that provide clarity and autonomy for product and design teams.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's plus 15 years of related experience, Master's plus 12 years, or PhD plus 8 years of related experience.
• 10+ years of experience in product design, information architecture, design systems, content architecture, or a closely related discipline.
• Experience shaping information architecture for complex digital products, including taxonomies, naming systems, and conceptual models.
• Experience creating or stewarding multi-team design guidelines, standards, or governance frameworks across organizations.
• Experience applying generative AI, agents, or automation to research synthesis, content operations, prototyping, or quality evaluation workflows.
• Experience with enterprise SaaS, cloud platforms, multi-product ecosystems, or developer platforms (preferred).
• Experience building or leading a guild, community of practice, or cross-organizational working group (preferred).
• Familiarity with machine-readable design guidance, agent workflows, or AI-enabled development tools (preferred).
