TL;DR · Principal AI Computer Vision Engineer

As a Principal AI Computer Vision Engineer, you will join the Analytics for Manufacturing Imaging team to accelerate the development, deployment, and adoption of computer vision models across a global manufacturing network. You will serve as a technical enabler by transforming image data into actionable process intelligence through model training, validation, and optimization for tasks like inspection, anomaly detection, and segmentation. Your daily work involves managing large datasets, creating reusable templates, and providing technical mentorship to site engineers. The role requires expertise in AI, machine vision hardware, and software such as MVTec HALCON, alongside proficiency with Docker and Kubernetes. You will solve complex manufacturing challenges by implementing end-to-end solutions that automate quality monitoring and improve production efficiency through advanced techniques like feature extraction, pattern matching, and object classification within regulated industrial environments.

What you'll do

  • Develop, train, validate, and optimize computer vision models for manufacturing applications like inspection and anomaly detection.
  • Lead image dataset activities including collection, annotation strategies, quality assessment, and curation to ensure robust model performance.
  • Partner with manufacturing sites to identify data requirements and execute model training activities.
  • Deploy computer vision models using the Analytics for Manufacturing Imaging (AMI) platform.
  • Collaborate with integration teams to implement end-to-end solutions involving image acquisition, execution, and monitoring workflows.
  • Create and maintain reusable datasets, model templates, and evaluation methodologies to accelerate future implementations.
  • Coach and mentor site engineers and project teams on AI best practices and computer vision development.
  • Develop training materials, workshops, and technical documentation to improve adoption across manufacturing sites.

What we're looking for

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree with 7+ years of experience or an advanced degree with 5+ years of experience.
  • Possess 3+ years of experience applying AI, analytics, and computer vision solutions in manufacturing, automation, or operations.
  • Possess 3+ years of experience developing, training, and deploying computer vision models in production environments.
  • Experience with industrial machine vision software such as MVTec HALCON (preferred).
  • Experience with model evaluation, validation, explainability, performance monitoring, and lifecycle management (preferred).
  • Experience collecting, curating, annotating, and managing image datasets for industrial AI applications (preferred).
  • Knowledge of traditional machine vision techniques like geometric measurement, feature extraction, and OCR/OCV (preferred).
  • Work authorization at the time of hire and for the duration of employment.
