In our never-ending pursuit to help keep people safe everywhere, our Presale Engineering Team applies our Public Safety ecosystem of technologies focused on Critical Communications, Video Security, and the Command Center from ideation to creation, challenge to resolution. Job Description
The Presale Systems Engineer partners closely with customers and the sales team, delivering customer-driven, world-class, leading-edge, end-to-end solutions that rise to the challenges of first responder, government, and non first responder customers within the US Federal Government Civilian and Law Enforcement customer base. Working within a team of sales, service, engineering, and technical support resources, the Presale Systems Engineer is the overall owner of a solution’s technical design, ensuring we meet our customers’ needs.
The engineering team supports the entire ecosystem and concentrates on the following mission-critical technologies at various levels of complexity:
- Public safety grade mobile voice and data networks
- Advanced mobile devices
- Public safety mobile broadband networks and devices
- Integrated command and control software
- Mobile and fixed video solutions
Responsibilities:
- Customer requirements discovery
- Technology strategy development
- End-to-end system architecture design
- Proposal development
- Internal and external technical presentations
- Equipment and software solution demos, including configuration and testing
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, preferably Electrical or Computer Engineering
- Must be a U.S. citizen with ability to obtain a necessary security clearance as required by government contract
- Present complex topics to technical and non-technical audiences and makes them understandable
- Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Experience with wireless communications fundamentals and voice/data architectures - both public and private (e.g. APCO P25, LTE, 802.11, 3GPP 4G/5G, FirstNet/Frontline) - highly desirable
- Experience with Cloud (FedRAMP), IP networking architecture, protocols and security highly desirable
- Knowledge of RF coverage predictions, microwave design, traffic/capacity modeling, and related toolsets an asset
- This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent fingerprint background check administered by Motorola Solutions Inc. customers.
Location/Travel:
- Ability to work in the Linthicum Heights, MD office a minimum of 3 days a week
- Must be willing to travel up to 25% of the time
Target Base Salary Range: $70,000 - $100,000 USD
Consistent with Motorola Solutions values and applicable law, we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity. Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate.

Basic Requirements
- Bachelors Degree with 2+ years of experience in one of the following: Sales, Pre Sales, Project Management, Engineering, Public Safety experience
- OR 6+ years of experience in one of the following: Sales, Pre Sales, Project Management, Engineering, Public Safety experience
- Must be able to obtain background clearance as required by government customer
