The Platform Engineering Intern, Summer 2027 joins the Platform Architecture team to support critical payment infrastructure. This role involves designing platform architectures, creating detailed Visio diagrams for complex applications, and performing dependency mapping. The intern will work on the Decision Management Program, a high-volume payment processing component that utilizes bare metal server environments across in-house data centers. Key responsibilities include assisting with infrastructure and data center design while ensuring applications are scalable, resilient, and highly available. Required technical skills include foundational knowledge of AWS, Azure, or GCP, and exposure to Docker, Kubernetes, and Linux. Candidates should also possess familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code tools like Terraform, Ansible, or Jenkins, alongside experience with Java application servers and enterprise environments to solve complex architectural problems.
Design platform architectures for complex applications and infrastructure solutions.
Create detailed Visio diagrams and architecture documentation for enterprise systems.
Map application dependencies and infrastructure components for high-volume payment processing.
Support the design and modernization of bare metal server environments.
Ensure applications are built on scalable, resilient, and highly available platforms.

What we're looking for
Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree with an anticipated graduation date between December 2027 and June 2028.
Must have foundational knowledge of cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or GCP.
Must understand infrastructure concepts including high availability, capacity planning, scalability, and micro-segmentation.
Must have exposure to containerization technologies and orchestration platforms like Docker and Kubernetes through coursework, projects, or internships.
Must have familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code and automation tools such as Git, Bitbucket, Jenkins, Terraform, Ansible, or Chef.
Must have basic knowledge of Java application servers and enterprise application environments.
Must have experience working with Linux operating systems through academic projects, labs, or personal learning.
