Photonics Design Engineer

What you'll do

• Develop the end-to-end computational physics and simulation platform from first-principle algorithms.
• Implement deep learning surrogate models and inverse design to optimize device performance.
• Design and model advanced photonic devices for high-performance camera and sensing applications.
• Manage end-to-end device simulation and evaluation to identify engineering risks and architectural merits.
• Coordinate prototype development with external vendors to gather experimental and manufacturing data.
• Feed experimental data back into machine learning pipelines to optimize high-volume production.
• Translate system-level requirements into hardware execution and functional optical components.

What we're looking for

• B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, physics, applied mathematics, Computational Sciences or an equivalent field.
• M.S./Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, physics, applied mathematics, Computational Sciences or an equivalent field (preferred).
• Experience in semiconductor and photonic device design, development, and data analysis.
• Experience in electromagnetics modeling, inverse design, and/or Machine Learning.
• 5+ years’ experience with in-depth understanding and proficiency in electromagnetics modeling, inverse design, and Machine Learning (preferred).
• Familiarity with semiconductor device physics with experience in device design, development, data analysis, and problem-solving (preferred).
• Strong aptitude to learn with a proactive attitude, independent problem-solving skills, and excellent teamwork and communication (preferred).
