As a Network Automation Engineer - Federal Customer, you will join a diverse team of software and platform engineers to design, deploy, and maintain network infrastructure while ensuring the performance, stability, and scalability of next-generation networks supporting enterprise IT workloads. You will automate the deployment of critical infrastructure by interacting with networking hardware like switches, routers, and firewalls alongside software-defined control planes. Your daily work involves troubleshooting routing, interconnectivity, and configuration issues across Linux systems and network tools. Key technologies include Python or Go programming, Ansible automation frameworks, and RESTful APIs. You will manage SONiC, Cumulus NOS, and Kubernetes networking concepts including CNI and MetalLB. The role requires expertise in BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS, and SD-WAN platforms to solve complex connectivity challenges across geographically distributed sites and secure transport boundaries.
Develop and implement network configuration changes through automated scripts and workflows.
Automate the deployment and management of network infrastructure using Python and Ansible.
Troubleshoot complex routing, interconnectivity, and performance issues across Linux systems and next-gen networking tools.
Manage and configure network hardware including switches, routers, firewalls, and software-defined control planes.
Implement Kubernetes networking concepts, including CNI plugins and MetalLB for load balancing.
Integrate SD-WAN platforms with public cloud environments and secure transport technologies like IPsec and MACsec.
Utilize REST APIs, NETCONF/RESTCONF, and data formats like JSON and YAML to automate network services.
Maintain technical documentation and ensure compliance with established networking standards and policies.
What we're looking for
Active TS/SCI clearance is required.
Extensive experience designing, deploying, and troubleshooting large-scale enterprise WAN architectures using BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS, and overlay networks.
Proven track record configuring and managing enterprise-grade SD-WAN platforms including Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN, Fortinet, VMware Velocloud, or Silver Peak.
Proficiency in developing production automation scripts and configuration frameworks using Python and Ansible with experience in REST APIs, NETCONF/RESTCONF, and JSON/YAML/XML.
Strong background implementing secure transport connectivity including IPsec site-to-site tunnels, MACsec, Next-Gen Firewall policies, and QoS traffic shaping.
Experience with SONiC, Cumulus Network Operating System, rail-optimized technology, and Kubernetes networking concepts (preferred).
Experience using Terraform for GitOps workflows or experience with model-driven telemetry and streaming observability pipelines (preferred).
Advanced networking and automation credentials such as Cisco Certified DevNet Professional, CCNP Enterprise, CCIE, or equivalent certifications (preferred).
