JOB TITLE: Manager, Studio Data Engineering
The Manager, Studio Data Engineering leads the Content Promotion & Distribution Data Engineering team to support how content is launched and distributed across global markets. This leader manages a heterogeneous team of data, software, and ML engineers to build robust, scalable data foundations. Responsibilities include owning end-to-end data products, managing batch and streaming pipelines, and developing multi-modal data foundations for text, metadata, image, video, and audio. The role involves creating models for analytics, experimentation, and GenAI applications like synthetic voice and machine translation. Key technical competencies include data warehousing, dimensional modeling, Spark, and S3. The position solves complex problems regarding promotional media optimization, title launch management, and providing scalable access to media assets for global distribution across various devices and languages.
Hire, lead, and develop a diverse team of data, software, and ML engineers.
Own end-to-end data foundations for content promotion, including batch and streaming pipelines.
Build multi-modal data foundations for ML and GenAI model development and evaluation.
Provide technical vision for modeling, storing, and serving structured and multi-modal data at scale.
Partner with cross-functional leaders to prioritize and execute high-impact data products and tools.
Set technical standards for scalable analytical data models and well-governed ML feature datasets.
Balance short-term stakeholder goals with long-term infrastructure investments and "paved paths" for research.
Drive alignment across diverse stakeholders to clarify trade-offs and execute a shared roadmap.
What we're looking for
You must have at least 7 years of experience leading data engineering teams, including managing managers and heterogeneous teams of data, software, and ML engineers.
You must have a proven track record leading innovative data engineering work in complex domains involving multimodal media, marketing, experimentation, or ML-driven products.
You must be able to own the technical quality of both analytics-focused data engineering and ML-focused data engineering.
You must have deep technical expertise in areas such as media asset processing, ML-ready data products, data warehousing, or batch and streaming processing.
You must be comfortable with Big Data and cloud-based technologies including S3, Spark, modern data warehouses, and workflow orchestration.
You must be a crisp communicator capable of driving alignment across technical and non-technical stakeholders at the Director and Manager levels.
You must have experience leading shared-resource teams and prioritizing work across multiple domains and stakeholder groups.
You must be able to provide technical vision for modeling, storing, and serving structured and multi-modal data at scale.
