Manager, Data Scientist - Bureau Data Strategy joins the Bureau Data Strategy team to produce highly-used datasets from raw credit bureau data. This role involves partnering with cross-functional teams of data scientists, software engineers, and product managers to deliver products that extract value from bureau data and shape future underwriting decisions. You will build machine learning models through all phases of development, including design, training, evaluation, validation, and implementation. The position requires leveraging a broad technology stack including Python, Conda, AWS, H2O, Spark, Scala, R, and SQL to reveal insights within huge volumes of numeric and textual data. You will work to solve complex business problems by translating technical complexity into tangible goals while managing production repositories on GitHub to support large-scale data analysis.

What you'll do

  • Extract insights and value from large volumes of raw credit bureau data.
  • Build machine learning models through all phases of development, including design, training, and validation.
  • Use a technology stack including Python, AWS, H2O, and Spark to analyze numeric and textual data.
  • Translate complex technical work into tangible business goals for stakeholders.
  • Retrieve, combine, and analyze data from a variety of different sources and structures.
  • Develop data science solutions using open-source tools and cloud computing platforms.
  • Shape the future of how credit bureau data is utilized in underwriting decisions.

What we're looking for

  • Must have a Bachelor's in a quantitative field plus 6 years of data analytics experience, a Master's/MBA plus 4 years, or a PhD plus 1 year.
  • Must have at least 1 year of experience leveraging open source programming languages for large scale data analysis.
  • Must have at least 1 year of experience working with machine learning.
  • Must have at least 1 year of experience utilizing relational databases.
  • Must have hands-on experience developing data science solutions using open-source tools and cloud computing platforms.
  • Preferred: PhD in a STEM field plus 3 years of experience in data analytics.
  • Preferred: At least 4 years of experience in Python, Scala, R, or SQL for large scale data analysis.
  • Preferred: At least 4 years of experience with machine learning.
  • Preferred: At least 2 years of experience with managing production repositories on GitHub.
  • Preferred: At least 1 year of experience working with Spark or PySpark.
