Manager, Agentic Engineering joins the Dell Security & Resiliency team to lead a group of individual contributors focused on building, evaluating, and operating AI-native security capabilities. This technical management role involves direct participation in design reviews, code reviews, and technical debates to maintain high engineering standards while managing performance, hiring, and career development for the team. The manager is responsible for defining the strategic direction for AI-native capabilities, making critical build or adopt decisions, and resolving trade-offs between delivery speed and quality. Key requirements include over ten years of software engineering experience, including three years of direct management, and specific expertise in agentic systems, LLM application engineering, and evaluating non-deterministic systems. The role requires a deep understanding of security engineering to oversee the development of tools that address complex security risks within the organization.
Manage, coach, and develop individual contributors across build, evaluation, and operations functions.
Set the strategic direction for AI-native capabilities within the security organization.
Maintain high engineering standards through direct participation in design reviews and code reviews.
Own program delivery commitments by forecasting capacity and managing project timelines.
Make critical decisions on whether to build, adopt, or defer specific technical capabilities.
Resolve trade-offs between development speed and engineering quality for the team.
Remove organizational, platform, and vendor obstacles that hinder engineer productivity.
Translate complex engineering realities into clear updates and risks for executive stakeholders.
What we're looking for
10+ years of experience in software engineering building and shipping production systems.
3+ years of experience managing engineers directly.
Current technical depth to review designs, read code, and participate in technical debates.
Hands-on experience with AI-native system development, including agentic systems, LLM application engineering, or evaluation of non-deterministic systems.
Demonstrated ability to develop engineers and hire talent in a competitive market.
Experience setting technical direction for teams and communicating trade-offs and risks to executive leadership.
Working knowledge of security engineering sufficient to lead a team building security capabilities.
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
