JOB TITLE: Machine Learning Manager, Visual Generation Foundation Models
The Machine Learning Manager, Visual Generation Foundation Models joins the Intelligent System Experiences team to lead a group of ML engineers. This role focuses on building new capabilities and delivering quality improvements for visual generation foundation models used in products like Genmoji, Image Playground, and Image Wand. You will manage projects involving billion-scale datasets, data curation strategies, and applying machine learning models to enrich data. The position requires proficiency in ML frameworks and distributed data processing pipelines to handle web-scale datasets and on-device optimizations. You will solve deep technical research problems regarding data excellence for foundation model training while collaborating with research, policy, and responsible AI teams to ensure safety and high execution standards within the visual generative AI space.
Lead a team of ML engineers to build new capabilities for visual generation foundation models.
Drive data excellence for foundation model training using billion-scale datasets.
Apply machine learning models to enrich data and execute quality-focused data curation strategies.
Manage distributed training of foundation models and develop application-specific adapters.
Implement on-device optimizations for generative AI models.
Stay current on AI research to apply impactful developments and pioneer proprietary experimental ideas.
Ensure high standards of execution and safety by working with policy and responsible AI teams.
What we're looking for
M.S. or PhD in Computer Science or a related field such as Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or equivalent experience.
2+ years of experience as an ML Manager leading teams through modern computer vision and generative AI research.
8+ years of experience training state-of-the-art generative or understanding models.
Experience managing cross-functional projects and mentoring engineers through empathy and growth.
Proficiency in ML frameworks and distributed data processing pipelines as a hands-on technical leader.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to drive clarity in ambiguous circumstances.
Prior hands-on research experience working with data and building models (preferred).
Recent projects and experience with modern visual generative AI for images or videos (preferred).
