TL;DR · Mac Systems Power Delivery Architect

The Mac Systems Power Delivery Architect joins the Mac System Power Delivery Architecture team as a multidisciplinary, cross-functional lead engineering role focused on power delivery across Mac computer systems. This position involves providing architectural guidance and leadership to define product requirements, conducting system-level partitioning and tradeoff analyses, and defining mixed-signal power ICs from initial investigation through implementation. The architect will perform design simulations, calculate control loop stability, conduct peak power measurements, and author system architecture specifications. Key technical expertise includes power electronics, PMICs, DC-DC, DC-AC, and AC-DC voltage regulator topologies, as well as magnetic design and PCB layout. Candidates must possess knowledge of mixed-signal silicon processes, verification tools, and back-end flows while addressing critical performance metrics like efficiency, power density, cost, and carbon footprint for high-volume production computing systems.

What you'll do

  • Lead core architecture and technology investigations to optimize power metrics, performance, and cost.
  • Design and evaluate DC-DC, DC-AC, and AC-DC voltage regulator topologies and magnetic designs.
  • Define requirements for Power Management ICs (PMICs) and collaborate with vendors to deliver high-quality silicon.
  • Provide design simulations and analytical models to predict control loop stability and transient responses.
  • Perform peak power measurements on hardware to validate power models.
  • Author system architecture specifications, block diagrams, and risk assessment documentation.
  • Align with SoC teams to ensure system goals meet future processor requirements.

What we're looking for

  • BS/MS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • At least 10 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Subject matter expertise in power electronics design and analysis for high-volume production computing systems.
  • Strong technical breadth across computer subsystem technologies including CPU, GPU, storage, memory, and thermal management.
  • Solid understanding of mixed-signal silicon processes, design methodologies, and tools.
  • Ability to create, review, and approve engineering requirement specification documents.
  • Strong analytical, verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience in mixed-signal silicon/PMIC design, circuit simulations, or board bring-up (preferred).
