Lead Developer Advocate

What you'll do

• Define and execute the developer advocacy strategy to prioritize target use cases and communities.
• Build relationships with accelerators, investors, and platforms to onboard new teams to Shopify.
• Organize and lead meetups, hackathons, workshops, and public technical content creation.
• Pair with founders and engineers to integrate Shopify APIs and clear technical blockers.
• Create reusable code, tools, and documentation to improve the overall developer experience.
• Channel developer feedback to Product and Engineering teams to resolve recurring technical issues.
• Track engagement metrics and A/B test advocacy approaches to scale the program.

What we're looking for

• Experience building a developer advocacy, developer relations, or technical ecosystem program from strategy through execution.
• Hands-on engineering or solutions background including shipping software, integrating APIs, implementing auth, and debugging production issues.
• Experience building with AI development tools and the ability to learn unfamiliar codebases quickly.
• Ability to pair with founders and engineers to explain technical concepts clearly and build credibility with developers.
• Track record of running developer events, building communities, and publishing useful technical content.
• Must be based in San Francisco to work with developers in person.
