The Lab Test Engineer, Environmental Test, Amazon Leo joins the Operations, IT, & Support Engineering team to maintain aerospace environmental test production. This role involves troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, and software issues on Automated Test Equipment, specifically test racks used for the low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. Daily responsibilities include performing root cause analysis, managing production support tickets, and developing Python scripts to automate redundant tasks and improve operational efficiency. The engineer will maintain calibration procedures for RF test equipment, monitor inventory, and coordinate preventive maintenance to minimize production downtime. Required skills include experience with data acquisition, control software, and debugging languages like Python, C, or C#. The position focuses on ensuring the availability and performance of production test hardware within a specialized manufacturing environment.
Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and software issues on automated test racks to minimize production downtime.
Perform Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) on production testing issues and implement permanent fixes.
Develop and maintain Python scripts and applications to automate redundant tasks and improve operational efficiency.
Maintain and calibrate RF test equipment and environmental test hardware.
Manage spare test racks, including coordinating repairs and monitoring inventory of test harnesses.
Develop and maintain documentation for hardware configurations, calibration procedures, and test requirements.
Provide production support through ticket management, change management, and host provisioning.
Coordinate preventive maintenance schedules and monitor metrics for production test equipment.
What we're looking for
Must be a U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident, or lawfully admitted refugee/asylumee.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field and/or equivalent experience.
2+ years of experience in hardware development, test lab, space/aerospace maintenance, or a hands-on engineering environment.
2+ years of experience testing, troubleshooting, and debugging automated test systems including electrical, mechanical, electronic, networking, and software systems.
2+ years of experience with production test station hardware/software design and factory deployment.
2+ years of experience with electrical test equipment, data acquisition, and control software.
Experience writing, reading, and debugging software in Python, C, C#, or other languages.
