JOB TITLE: Information Systems Security Officer(ISSO)
The Information Systems Security Officer joins the Cyber & Analytics Business Area within the Key Management & Analytics Division to support critical national-security missions. This role focuses on maintaining the operational security posture of information systems by ensuring compliance with security policies, standards, and methodologies. Key responsibilities include performing vulnerability and risk-assessment analysis, developing security documentation like System Security Plans and Risk Assessment Reports, and managing configuration management for hardware and software. The position requires expertise in the NIST Risk Management Framework, encryption techniques, and communication protocols. Candidates must possess experience with information assurance management, security tools, and day-to-day security operations. The work involves protecting systems that process classified information, ensuring they remain secure, compliant, and ready to support mission-critical requirements in a secure environment.
Implement and enforce information systems security policies, standards, and methodologies.
Develop and maintain security documentation including System Security Plans and Risk Assessment Reports.
Perform vulnerability and risk-assessment analysis to support certification and accreditation activities.
Support security-authorization activities in accordance with the NIST Risk Management Framework.
Manage system changes and provide Configuration Management for security-relevant hardware, software, and firmware.
Administer user identification and authentication mechanisms for information systems.
Evaluate security solutions to ensure they meet requirements for processing classified information.
Maintain records for workstations, servers, routers, firewalls, and other system components.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university.
Four years of direct experience as an ISSO may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
Ten years of experience as an ISSO on programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
Experience in at least two of the following: security tools, hardware/software security implementation, communication protocols, encryption techniques, or DoD 8570.
DoD 8570 Information Assurance Management (IAM) Level I certification or higher.
Demonstrated experience with information-system security policies, standards, methodologies, security documentation, and day-to-day security operations.
Experience supporting security authorization, certification and accreditation, and information-assurance activities.
