Information System Security Officer The Information System Security Officer joins the Digital Sector to support the Homeland Enterprise Information Technology Secure Services and Support contract as part of the Department of Homeland Security Insider Threat Program. Day-to-day responsibilities include performing weekly vulnerability scans for FISMA requirements, conducting technical analysis of scan results, and managing Authority to Operate, Authority to Connect, and Interim Authorization to Test documentation. The candidate will develop Assessment and Authorization packages, maintain Body of Evidence records, and coordinate with system owners to ensure compliance. Key competencies include expertise in the Risk Management Framework, ICD-503, and security accreditation processes. The role addresses the critical problem of identifying insider threats through advanced analytics and data correlation to protect homeland security.

What you'll do

Support the integration and deployment of security technology to counter external and insider threats.
Perform weekly vulnerability scans in support of FISMA requirements and coordinate with system owners.
Conduct technical analysis of scan results and prepare monthly written reports for government review.
Manage the full lifecycle of security assessments, including defining scope, developing test plans, and briefing findings.
Support the accreditation of information systems through the DHS certification and accreditation process.
Monitor and report on the status of Authority to Operate (ATO), Authority to Connect (ATC), and Interim Authorization to Test (IATT) documents.
Maintain all Body of Evidence (BOE) documentation and update records following software updates or patches.
Document all changes to system security postures and submit them for government approval.

What we're looking for

Bachelor's degree and experience, or a Master's degree and experience.
Ability to obtain DHS EOD SCI clearance.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Experience developing and maintaining technical documents, analyses, and reports.
Experience preparing and presenting briefings to senior management and stakeholders.
Master’s degree in IT Management, Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
6+ years of experience in Information Assurance Management with Security+ or similar certification (preferred).
Extensive experience with RMF, ICD-503, security accreditation packages, and obtaining ATOs (preferred).
