The Information System Security Officer (ISSO) joins the GD Mission Systems team to support the cybersecurity posture of systems throughout their development, deployment, operations, and sustainment. This role involves performing continuous monitoring activities in accordance with RMF and program requirements, including reviewing security logs, audit records, and vulnerability results to identify anomalous activity. The successful candidate will partner with engineering and operations teams to implement secure system architectures, maintain the Security Control Traceability Matrix, and manage Plans of Action and Milestones. Key technical requirements include knowledge of NIST SP 800-37 RMF, NIST SP 800-53 controls, and DoD cybersecurity authorization processes. The position requires expertise in security control assessments, incident response coordination, and supporting system accreditation for ground-to-satellite communications and multi-level security domains.
Perform continuous monitoring by reviewing security logs, audit records, alerts, and vulnerability results.
Analyze security events to identify anomalous activity, control deficiencies, and compliance concerns.
Lead NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF) activities to develop evidence for security authorization.
Maintain the Security Control Traceability Matrix (SCTM) and other cybersecurity design documentation.
Track security findings and vulnerabilities while supporting the development of Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms).
Coordinate with engineering and operations teams to implement secure system architectures and configurations.
Support system accreditation and certification evaluations to ensure technical security features operate as intended.
Participate in Agile teams to prioritize and execute cybersecurity and continuous-monitoring work efforts.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, or Mathematics with 2 years of relevant experience; or a Master's degree with 6 months of relevant experience.
Must be a U.S. citizen.
Must possess a Department of Defense Secret security clearance at time of hire.
Knowledge of NIST RMF, NIST SP 800-53 security controls, and DoD cybersecurity authorization processes.
Working knowledge of continuous monitoring, vulnerability management, incident reporting, and security control assessment.
Experience reviewing and communicating security logs, audit records, alerts, and vulnerability data.
Active cybersecurity certifications such as CISSP, Security+, CEH, CAP, or CISM (preferred).
Experience with SIEM tools, POA&M management, and Secure DevSecOps practices (preferred).
