Hands-On Cloud AWS Architect As a Hands-On Cloud AWS Architect, you will join the team to translate customer IT needs into actionable plans by designing, architecting, and deploying production-grade AWS solutions. You will be responsible for modernizing infrastructure, enabling secure cloud environments including GovCloud and DoD IL, and leading enterprise-level cloud transformation initiatives such as migration and legacy system modernization. Your daily work involves building out cloud-native and DevSecOps practices using tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, GitLab CI/CD, and Jenkins. You will manage VPC design, IAM, EC2, containerized workloads via ECS or EKS, and storage services while ensuring compliance with NIST, RMF, and 800-53 frameworks. The role focuses on solving complex technical challenges for the Air Force by integrating advanced technology into mission-critical systems while mentoring developers to grow into future solutions architects.

What you'll do

  • Design, architect, and deploy production-grade AWS solutions including VPC, IAM, EC2, and containerized workloads.
  • Modernize legacy systems and migrate on-premises infrastructure to cloud environments like GovCloud and DoD IL.
  • Implement DevSecOps practices using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and CloudFormation.
  • Build and manage automated CI/CD pipelines for secure deployment workflows.
  • Translate customer IT needs and operational requirements into technical cloud-native architectural plans.
  • Optimize cloud costs through workload right-sizing, autoscaling strategies, and governance tools.
  • Mentor junior developers to help them grow into future solutions architects.
  • Ensure all cloud environments comply with security frameworks such as NIST, RMF, and 800-53.

What we're looking for

  • 10+ years of experience in IT.
  • 5+ years of experience architecting and deploying production AWS solutions.
  • Experience engineering cloud solutions including VPC design, IAM, EC2, containerized workloads, and networking fundamentals.
  • Experience with DevSecOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure-as-Code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Experience working in GovCloud and DoD IL environments.
  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance.
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional and 8570 IAT II Security+ CE certifications.
  • Bachelor's degree.
