TL;DR · GNC Engineer, ADCS (Starlink)

Join SpaceX's Starlink guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) team as a GNC Engineer responsible for developing highly reliable and performant algorithms using C++ or Python to automate satellite operations. You will conduct bulk data analysis, design high-fidelity simulations, and collaborate closely with other disciplines like thermal management and communications to ensure optimal system performance. With a strong background in orbital mechanics and control theory, you’ll contribute to the world’s largest constellation of satellites by designing autonomous fault-tolerant systems that enable global broadband internet access.

What you'll do

  • Develop highly reliable GNC algorithms and tools using C++ or Python.
  • Design and implement GNC software for mission concepts of operations.
  • Conduct Monte Carlo simulation analysis to validate flight performance.
  • Maintain tight interfaces with other disciplines for consistent system design.
  • Support hardware-in-the-loop testing efforts, including test case design.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, aerospace engineering, physics, or related field.
  • Experience in software development using C++ or Python.
  • Master’s degree or PhD in an engineering discipline or physics preferred.
  • Strong understanding of orbital mechanics and trajectory optimization.
  • Experience with state estimation and GNC algorithm verification through simulation.
