Fullstack Engineer (TypeScript), AI Engineering: Duo Client SDK joins the Duo Client SDK team to build the shared foundation for every GitLab Duo client. The role focuses on the specific challenge of creating isomorphic code that functions in both browser and server environments while optimizing bundle sizes and performance for diverse client surfaces within the AI engineering product area.

What you'll do

Develop secure, performant TypeScript features for both frontend and backend systems.
Extract and publish versioned TypeScript packages from the GitLab Language Server.
Design durable public APIs with clear interfaces, semantic versioning, and deprecation paths.
Build isomorphic core packages that isolate platform-specific behavior in adapters.
Develop and improve SDK client surfaces including Vue 3 components for web applications.
Strengthen credential handling across hosts including bearer tokens and CSRF protection.
Optimize bundle size, startup costs, and dependency weight for browser consumers.
Participate in a Tier 2 on-call rotation to resolve urgent engineering issues.

What we're looking for

Strong proficiency with TypeScript across both frontend and backend systems.
Experience building and maintaining Node.js services.
Experience with modern build and packaging tools including monorepos, multi-module builds, ESM, and dependency management.
Experience with Vue 3 and the Composition API, or comparable component-based frontend experience (preferred).
Experience designing APIs for external consumers with an understanding of versioning and compatibility.
Understanding of the differences between running code in Node.js versus a browser environment.
Security-minded development approach including credential handling and performance optimization.
Ability to communicate technical problems clearly in writing within an agile, remote environment.
