TL;DR · Network Product Engineer

The FTS Network Services - Network Product Engineer joins the network services team to engineer, implement, automate, validate, and optimize complex enterprise network infrastructure. This role involves designing scalable, resilient, and secure solutions across data center, campus, WAN, and security domains. You will translate business requirements into high-level and low-level designs, develop reusable implementation patterns, and perform technology certifications. Key responsibilities include engineering Layer 2 and Layer 3 technologies like BGP, OSPF, and VXLAN/EVPN fabrics while managing secure connectivity via IPSec and SD-WAN. You will utilize tools including Cisco Nexus/NX-OS, Python, Ansible, Terraform, and Git-based CI/CD pipelines. The work focuses on solving complex connectivity issues, improving network observability, and ensuring high availability for critical enterprise infrastructure through automation and Infrastructure as Code.

What you'll do

  • Design and engineer enterprise network solutions for data centers, WAN, and LAN environments.
  • Develop high-level and low-level designs, engineering standards, and implementation patterns.
  • Engineer Layer 2 and Layer 3 technologies including BGP, OSPF, VXLAN/EVPN, and SD-WAN.
  • Develop and maintain network automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) capabilities using APIs and scripting.
  • Troubleshoot complex network and application-connectivity issues using packet analysis and telemetry tools.
  • Execute engineering validation and certification plans for new hardware, software, and network features.
  • Analyze network performance metrics like latency and throughput to provide engineering recommendations.
  • Maintain technical documentation for network architecture, configuration, and operational procedures.

What we're looking for

  • 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in network engineering, network infrastructure engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, troubleshooting, and supporting complex enterprise network environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking concepts including Ethernet, VLANs, STP, VRFs, BGP, OSPF, and route policy.
  • Experience with enterprise routing and switching technologies such as Cisco Catalyst, Cisco Nexus/NX-OS, Cisco IOS-XE/IOS-XR, or comparable platforms.
  • Experience with data center networking technologies such as VXLAN/EVPN, leaf-spine architectures, segmentation, and data center interconnect.
  • Experience engineering or supporting secure network connectivity including firewalls, ACLs, network segmentation, NAT, and VPN technologies.
  • Experience with network automation, scripting, APIs, configuration management, or Infrastructure as Code.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Network Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • Familiarity with Python, Ansible, Terraform, YAML/JSON, REST APIs, Git, CI/CD pipelines, and source-of-truth platforms (preferred).
