Embedded Engineer, Compliance

What you'll do

• Identify high-leverage automation opportunities within transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, and regulatory change management workflows.
• Prototype pragmatic solutions quickly using Coinbase's existing AI platform as the primary foundation.
• Own the Compliance automation roadmap by translating complex regulatory workflows into clear engineering requirements.
• Define the build-vs-buy strategy for compliance tooling by evaluating internal builds, partner tools, and vendor products.
• Design automated compliance outputs to ensure they are traceable, reviewable, and defensible to regulators.
• Drive tool adoption through brown-bags, prototype walkthroughs, and continuous feedback loops with Compliance teams.
• Act as the technical bridge between Compliance stakeholders and the engineering teams maintaining the AI platform.

What we're looking for

• 5+ years of software engineering experience shipping production systems in ambiguous, stakeholder-heavy environments.
• Hands-on experience deploying LLM-based applications, including prompt engineering, evaluation frameworks, and hallucination guardrails.
• Proven ability to embed with non-technical domain experts to translate complex workflows into engineering requirements.
• Familiarity with compliance and regulatory systems concepts like transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, and audit-ready data handling.
• Familiarity with multi-agent orchestration concepts, including handoffs, escalation, and auditability.
• Experience in Forward Deployed Engineering, Solutions Engineering, or embedded technical advisory roles, ideally in RegTech or financial services.
• Experience utilizing generative AI responsibly to deliver business-ready outputs and drive workflow efficiency.
