TL;DR · Firmware Engineer

AMD’s Server Security Processor team seeks a senior firmware engineer to design, develop, debug, and integrate firmware solutions for AMD SOC components. This role involves resolving complex issues in pre-production and sustaining products, ensuring high-quality firmware releases through effective collaboration with cross-functional engineering teams. The ideal candidate will possess strong problem-solving skills, experience with x86, ARM, or RISC-V architectures, and expertise in embedded firmware development using C programming language. They should be proficient in debugging hardware/software interfaces and familiar with tools like JTAG and source code debuggers. Additionally, the engineer must have a track record of working independently under tight deadlines while maintaining excellent communication skills to drive technical leadership within the team.

What you'll do

  • Design and implement embedded firmware for power, performance, and security features.
  • Resolve complex issues on pre-production products in cross-component debug engagements.
  • Develop high-quality firmware solutions ensuring defect-free system product development.
  • Engage in design reviews and architectural discussions to improve firmware quality.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to developers, program managers, and people managers.

What we're looking for

  • Strong problem-solving skills and experience with x86, ARM, or RISC-V architecture.
  • Proficient in embedded firmware and device driver development for pre-silicon environments.
  • Expertise in hardware/software interfaces and debugging complex issues using JTAG and debuggers.
  • Mastery of C programming language with recent hands-on experience.
  • Experience with DDR, SPI, eSPI, I2C, LPC, and PCIe protocols.
  • Familiarity with source control systems like svn or git and working independently under tight deadlines.
