Engineering Manager II, Ranking and Recommendations, Grocery and Retail

What you'll do

• Lead a team of backend and ML engineers responsible for the online ranking serving stack.
• Define and execute an ambitious product roadmap to enhance user shopping experiences.
• Drive initiatives to optimize p99 latency and infra-cost efficiency in high-QPS services.
• Oversee development of real-time and batch pipelines ensuring consistency between offline and online data.
• Champion a culture focused on operational excellence, including post-mortems and degradation strategies.
• Build automated experimentation capabilities with guardrails for debiasing and logging.
• Partner with Data Science to integrate state-of-the-art models into production environments.

What we're looking for

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering with a focus on high-traffic backend systems.
• 4+ years of proven leadership in engineering management roles.
• Deep expertise in distributed systems and API/service design for large-scale production environments.
• Strong track record in managing SLOs/SLAs, incident response, and optimizing performance/latency.
• Experience integrating machine learning models into production services with data science teams.
• Proven ability to manage cross-functional projects impacting multiple organizational units.
