Embedded Software Dev Engineer, Amazon Leo Antenna Development joins the antenna software team to develop services, actors, and infrastructure that control satellite payload antenna hardware. This role involves building tools and automation to assist engineering teams in designing, debugging, validating, and operating complex satellite RF systems. You will work across the stack, from embedded Linux services to cloud-based test infrastructure, to improve system reliability and streamline factory calibration. Key responsibilities include developing embedded software for Kuiper antenna systems, participating in hardware bring-up, and managing the full lifecycle from design to deployment. The role requires proficiency in Rust, C, C++, C#, Java, or Perl, along with experience in object-oriented design and CI/CD pipelines. You will solve technical problems related to satellite communication systems, including VCXO clock disciplining and beamforming for orbital hardware.
Develop embedded software using Rust, C, or C++ for Kuiper antenna systems.
Design and implement reliable services and daemons on resource-constrained hardware.
Build tools and automation to assist engineering teams in designing, debugging, and validating RF systems.
Participate in hardware bring-up, board validation, and factory test development.
Manage the full software lifecycle from requirements and design through testing and CI/CD deployment.
Troubleshoot hardware issues using schematics and logic analyzers for bare-metal embedded software.
Create cloud-based test infrastructure to streamline factory calibration and improve system reliability.
What we're looking for
Must be a U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident, or granted asylum/refugee status for export control compliance.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
2+ years of experience in design or architecture of new and existing systems using design patterns, reliability, and scaling.
1+ years of experience developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded, or distributed software applications using C#, C++, Java, or Perl.
1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience.
Experience with Linux operating systems, embedded systems, and CI/CD pipelines.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Rust, C, or C++.
