Electrical Design Engineer, Electric Power

What you'll do

• Design, develop, and validate electrical subsystems that meet customer expectations and regulatory requirements.
• Lead technical activities from initial requirements definition through to final product implementation.
• Build three-dimensional models and use automated tools to design or modify product components.
• Test and evaluate alternative means of production and build complex product prototypes.
• Provide technical guidance on regulatory standards, product requirements, and new design ideas.
• Monitor complex product design processes to ensure all functional requirements are met.
• Control design and development costs through effective resource coordination and improvement plans.
• Communicate technical results and design trade-offs to global customers, suppliers, and internal teams.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or Electrical Engineering Technology.
• Knowledge of technology and application methods to provide solutions to significant technical challenges.
• Extensive experience in analytical thinking to determine root causes and quantify costs, benefits, and risks.
• Extensive experience in CAD/CAE tools to produce, analyze, simulate, and test product design drafts.
• Extensive experience in product design to convert customer requirements into functional product designs.
• Working knowledge of product design and development to build 3D models and complex prototypes.
• Experience with ProE/Creo electrical programs (preferred).
• Experience with electrical codes (UL, NEC, CSA), engine/genset design, AC/DC systems, and FMEA (preferred).
